Inclusion of the ESEE region and Ukraine in innovative exploration developments

The project’s overall goal is to help Kosovo Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine to rebuild the broken chain of education and training and benefit from the innovations already existing in European Union and on going developments. The project provides for transferring of up‐to‐date knowledge of modern concepts and methods to these countries through the comprehensive and suitable program for the students of the Faculty of Geosciences‐ University of Mitrovica, and also employees of the Geological Survey of the Republic of Kosovo, the Geological Survey of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Geological Survey of Ukraine.  Project will have a long‐term and significant effects, as well trained and educated geological experts will be able to provide all necessary expertise and services to investors, seeking for a stable and secure raw material sources in Europe ‐ undeveloped Republic of Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine will be a perfect place for that.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE

Taking into consideration that one of the aims of EIT Raw Materials is to reinforce and expand activities in the non‐EU countries with the focus on the strategic regions for the European Union, the project’s objective is to contribute to this aim by outreaching to the countries with geopolitical importance and by boosting the development of the geological sector of these countries through an university based educational and experts’ supported training program.

  • Transfer of the vast knowledge on geological explorations existing in the developed countries, to the less developed countries such as Republic of Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine

  • Equip the staff of the Geological Surveys’ of these countries and students of University of Mitrovica how to use efficiently high quality laboratory equipment. The consortium’s approach to implement the projects objectives is based on the knowledge of the economic, social and education situation in the selected countries, as well as level of expertise in the geological exploration area. The consortium consists of partners with vast experience in the selected region and awareness of the needs of the target groups in these regions.  Universities that are members of the consortium will build up a detailed and comprehensive training program in accordance with European standards.  The program will consist of two main segments, such as theoretical and practical segments of the program; ‐ The theoretical part will be divided in two phases: First phase will describe modern concepts of mineral exploration and the second phase focuses on the details of applied methods that will be developed by the other project, such as isotopic and fluid inclusion studies, hyper‐spectral analysis, creation of Lithostratigraphic 3D models and so on.  ‐ The practical part of the program will include laboratory exercises, field training Is also to be designed in accordance with needs of students of Faculty of Geosciences ‐ University of Mitrovica and employees of the Geological Survey’s in both countries. Laboratory works will be designed by all partners in the consortium to make sure that program is relevant to the needs of the target groups. The industry partner of the consortium will provide the project with access to the concession areas where field exercises will be conducted.
